Resolutions
1. Keep school work in school
Much easier said than done I'm sure but this year I will aim to complete all planning and corrections to when I am in school. That said I will still do my laminating at home watching TV but all corrections and paperwork will be done in school.
2. Create my own resources
Don't worry, I'm not planning on creating every single resource myself but each day I will use worksheets or powerpoints or some other resource that I have created, Often you can spend more time searching for a resource than would take to make it so if I can't find something suitable after searching for 15/20 minutes I will be making it myself.
3. Weekends are for 'me time' or exploring London
Come Friday evening I intend to switch off the teaching part of my brain until Sunday evening so that I can properly relax and de-stress over the weekend. As I will be living in London I have to find time to explore all it has to offer and get the touristy things done. It will also mean that if I come home for a weekend I wont have to think about my planning for the following week.
4. Keep on top of corrections
I am a disaster for allowing corrections to build up. I will keep on top of corrections each evening, before I leave school so that everything is ready to go the next morning.
5. Be fully registered with Teaching Council
This one will take the full year to complete but I will do it. My school have offered to complete my NQT year (3 terms) with me (probation condition) and I can do the Induction courses in Dublin at weekends (induction condition). Therefore I should be fully registered with the Teaching Council, or at least the paperwork will be with them, by this time next year
Some non-teaching resolutions
6. Look after myself
Everyone says it but I mean it. I am a disaster for eating breakfast and I love my full Irish and pizza so this year I will have a breakfast before going to school, make a proper lunch, cook myself dinner and have a supply of fruit around me. I will still allow the occasional pizza, fast food option and I will certainly enjoy my full Irish when I am home.
7. Complete all Youth Ministry assignments before February 28th
So this is one that has been set for me. I have to complete my assignments by this date so that we can graduate this year. I don't want to be the cause of the graduation being put off - I'll leave that to someone else.
8. I will not procrastinate
In order to meet all of the above resolutions I will have to give up procrastinating. It has never served me well and would explain why I am writing a blog post about new year resolutions instead of packing my bags.
And one for the blog
9. Blog at least once a week
I will write at least one blog post each week to keep up all updated on my life as a teacher in London. I will also be continuing the RAK packs when I am coming home so keep an eye out for those. I also hope to reach 1,000 facebook fans before the end of the year :D
And a final one to calm the OCD inside of me ;)
10. Keeping in touch
I can be a disaster for keeping in touch with people so I will meet up with friends when I am home and especially meet them if they are in London. I will be keeping in contact with family and friends at home and will keep myself up to date with all the latest news at home. I'm a homebird at heart so my Skype will be well used. People better make sure that they have it ;)
Wishing everyone a happy, safe and teaching filled new year. Roll on 2015!!!
